Electronics Cookbook: Practical Electronic Recipes with Arduino and Raspberry Pi

If you’re among the many hobbyists and designers who came to electronics through Arduino and Raspberry Pi, this cookbook will help you learn and apply the basics of electrical engineering without the need for an EE degree. Through a series of practical recipes, you’ll learn how to solve specific problems while diving into as much or as little theory as you’re comfortable with. Author Simon Monk (Raspberry Pi Cookbook) breaks down this complex subject into several topics, from using the right transistor to building and testing projects and prototypes. With this book, you can quickly search electronics topics and go straight to the recipe you need. It also serves as an ideal reference for experienced electronics makers.

Practical Aspects of Computational Chemistry IV

The editors of this volume have compiled an important book that is a useful vehicle for important computational research - in the development of theoretical methodologies and their practical applications. Themes include new methodologies, state-of-the-art computational algorithms and hardware as well as new applications. This volume, Practical Aspects of Computational Chemistry IV, is part of a continuous effort by the editors to document recent progress made by eminent researchers. Most of these chapters have been collected from invited speakers from the annual international meeting: “Current Trends in Computational Chemistry” organized by Jerzy Leszczynski, one of the editors of the current volume.

Grasping the moment: sensemaking in response to routine incidents and major emergencies

The ways in which organizations make use of information available to them to make decisions and manage activity is an essential topic of investigation for human factors. When the information is uncertain, incomplete or subject to change, then decision making and activity management can become challenging. Under such circumstances, it has become commonplace to use the concept of sensemaking as the lens through which to view organizational behavior. This book offers a unique perspective on sensemaking through its consideration of the variety of ways in which Incident Response is managed by the Police

Structural Behavior of Asphalt Pavements

Structural Behavior of Asphalt Pavements provides engineers and researchers with a detailed guide to the structural behavioral dynamics of asphalt pavement including: pavement temperature distribution, mechanistic response of pavement structure under the application of heavy vehicles, distress mechanism of pavement, and pavement deterioration performance and dynamic equations. An authoritative guide for understanding the key mechanisms for creating longer lasting pavements, Structural Behavior of Asphalt Pavements describes the intrinsic consistency between macroscopic performance and microscopic response, structure and material, as well as global and local performances, and demonstrates the process of pavement analyses and designs, approaching science from empirical analyses

Performative Inter-actions in African Theatre 1: Diaspora Representations and the Interweaving of Cultures

This book is part of a three-volume book-set published under the general title of Performative Inter-Actions in African Theatre. Each of the three books in the set has a unique subtitle that works to better focus its content, and differentiates it from the other two volumes. The contributors' backgrounds and global spread adequately reflect the international focus of the three books that make up the collection. The contributions, in their various ways, demonstrate the many advances and ingenious solutions adopted by African theatre practitioners in tackling some of the challenges arising from the adverse colonial experience, as well as the "one-sided" advance of globalisation

Beyond the Nation: Diasporic Filipino Literature and Queer Reading

Part of the American Literatures Initiative Series   Beyond the Nation charts an expansive history of Filipino literature in the U.S., forged within the dual contexts of imperialism and migration, from the early twentieth century into the twenty-first. Martin Joseph Ponce theorizes and enacts a queer diasporic reading practice that attends to the complex crossings of race and nation with gender and sexuality. Tracing the conditions of possibility of Anglophone Filipino literature to U.S. colonialism in the Philippines in the early twentieth century, the book examines how a host of writers from across the century both imagine and address the Philippines and the United States, inventing a variety of artistic lineages and social formations in the process

Contemporary Diasporic South Asian Women\s Fiction: Gender, Narration and Globalisation

This book is the first comparative analysis of a new generation of diasporic  Anglophone South Asian women novelists including Kiran Desai, Tahmima Anam, Monica Ali, Kamila Shamsie and Jhumpa Lahiri from a feminist perspective. It charts the significant changes these writers have produced in postcolonial and contemporary women’s fiction since the late 1990s. Paying careful attention to the authors’ distinct subcontinental backgrounds of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka – as well as India - this study destabilises the central place given to fiction focused on India.
